About Air Filters
Compressor Air Filters
Air filters are the first line of protection against dust, dirt, and airborne debris entering an air compressor. Effective filtration helps protect the airend, valves, bearings, lubricant, and other internal components from contamination and premature wear.
As an air filter becomes loaded with debris, airflow into the compressor becomes restricted. This can reduce compressor performance, increase operating temperature, and force the equipment to work harder to maintain the required system pressure. Damaged or poorly fitted filters may also allow contaminants to bypass the element entirely.
Air filters should be inspected regularly and replaced according to operating hours, environmental conditions, and the compressor manufacturer’s recommendations. Facilities with dust, machining residue, or other airborne contaminants may require more frequent filter changes to maintain reliable operation.
