About Oil/Water Separator
Oil/Water Separators
Oil/water separators treat condensate produced by air compressors, aftercoolers, receivers, filters, and dryers. They separate compressor lubricant from collected water so each waste stream can be handled more appropriately before disposal.
Most systems use a combination of settling chambers and filtration media to capture free, dispersed, and emulsified oil. As the media becomes saturated, treatment performance declines and oil may remain in the discharged water. Regular inspection and timely filter replacement are essential to maintaining effective separation.
Condensate volume and oil concentration can vary based on compressor type, lubricant, humidity, operating hours, and system design. Oil/water separators should be properly sized and maintained, and all discharged condensate should be handled in accordance with applicable environmental and local disposal requirements.
