About Inline Filter

Inline Filters & Water Separators

Inline filtration removes moisture, oil aerosols, particles, and other contaminants from compressed air before they reach dryers, equipment, tools, or production processes. Different filter stages are used throughout the system because no single element is designed to remove every type of contamination.

Water separators remove bulk liquid carried through the compressed-air piping, while coalescing filters capture fine oil and water aerosols along with small solid particles. Demister elements remove entrained liquid droplets by collecting them into larger drops that can drain away from the airflow.

Inline filters and separators should be properly sized for system flow and operating pressure. Loaded elements can create excessive pressure drop and increase compressor energy consumption, while damaged or saturated media can allow contaminants downstream. Elements and automatic drains should be inspected and serviced according to operating conditions and the manufacturer’s recommendations.
